From Kenya to Panama, India to Timor Leste, Champions have partnered with innovative grassroots projects that are educating and addressing the basic needs of children and their communities. In doing so, they have become a compelling voice in the United States for compassionate and collaborative global philanthropy.

The prospective Champion needs to complete a Letter of Inquiry that provides background information about the project and the Champion

The OWCF Projects Committee reviews the LOI and determines if the project fits its core values and principles

The Champion is invited to make a presentation to the Committee to share the work of the project, its effectiveness in addressing the needs of the community, the goals of the Champion in supporting the project, etc.

After the presentation, the committee votes to approve the candidate

Upon approval, a final application form is sent to the grassroots project that the Champion wishes to support

The committee reviews the project's application and completes the due diligence process

The final approval is subject to the review of the Board of Directors

If accepted, the Champion is oriented to the Program and OWCF operations, and we begin accepting donations for the project

People living in the US, who have lived or traveled in the developing world and are impressed by the work of a community-based organization and wish to support it

Founders of innovative new and emerging projects in the US that wish to engage in global philanthropy but do not have a 501(c)3 status yet. The African Library Project is an example of one such project.

Individuals living the US who grew up in the Global South and wish to give back meaningfully to their communities by partnering with grassroots projects that are addressing the basic needs of children and their caregivers.
